Jake – Adopted November ‘07

Jake made a super recovery from a terrible case of kennel cough that had him really down and out for a while. He was a lucky boy he made out of the shelter when he did.
Jake is now living in the Seattle area with his running partner who provides a great life for this cool dude. Jake also shares his home with his wonderful ‘big’ sis, Sara – a rat terrier that rules the roost.

Just after Jake was bailed out of the shelter I received this email from a rescue coordinator at the shelter…..he was truly saved just in the nick of time.

SCRAPS, the Spokane county shelter, is extremely full. They usually euthanize dogs every Wednesday. They have been so full, though, that they had to euthanize 9 dogs yesterday, and will have to euthanize again TODAY for lack of space.

Including last Wednesday (10/17) 28 dogs have been euthanized, and 55 more have come in. They can’t handle these numbers. In that time VERY few dogs were adopted, and our rescue options are very limited. SCRAPS has an excellent out of area transfer policy for working with rescuers. You do need to be approved, though, and there is some paperwork involved.

PLEASE take a look at their Petfinder site: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/WA113.html

Jake came from a Spokane shelter and is currently being evaluated while in foster. He is a confident dog with a moderate energy level. More to follow….
